SHOUT!

What is the SHOUT prayer mentor initiative?

SHOUT PMI is a national effort to cover local church students, middle school through college, with at least one, but preferably two caring local church adults who will commit to lift a prayer-shout for their particular students every day until they graduate from collge or are married.

How does prayer mentoring work?

SHOUT PMI is for churches who believe in the power of prayer and who care enough for thier youth to become involved in their lives. OGBC began its SHOUT program in 2007.

Since the SHOUT prayer initiative began here at Oak Grove mentors have prayed for students who have faced illness, medical procedures, deaths of family and friends, social difficulties, educational challenges, and family upheavals. The prayers and expressions of caring offerred by mentors have made a difference in the lives of our youth.

OGBC youth come from a variety of backgrounds and family situations. Most do not lack basic physical necessities. What many do lack is basic spiritual protection, spiritual protection that only praying adults can give to them. Even our Christian students are at risk and need more adult involvement in their lives. They need help to be strong enough to fight against a deliberate, determined, daily onslaught from the evil one. Nothing short of prayer will snatch our students from their jaws of a godless culture gone wild and offer the protection they need to sustain an authentic walk with God.

So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before Him, and they took the city.

-Joshua 6:20 KJV
